Yeşilova Mound

Yeşilova Mound is the oldest settlement of İzmir. Before the Yeşilova Mound was discovered in 2003, it was thought that İzmir had a history going back at most 5,000 years. However, according to the findings obtained during the excavations, it has gained the distinction of being one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia.

Hüseyin İsa Bey Mosque

Today, the mosque is located in the Ergene District Grand Bazaar. Its structure is similar to the early period structures in Anatolia. It is estimated that it was built during the Aydınids Period. There is a tomb in the northwest of the mosque courtyard and darülkurra (where people read the Quran) in the south.

Grand Bazaar

The history of the Grand Bazaar dates back to the Seljuks a thousand years ago. It is located at Bornova's Republic Square.

Santa Maria Catholic Church

The church in Bornova Cumhuriyet Square was built in 1797. The building is in Byzantine style and still continues its mission.

Church of Saint Mary Magdalene

The church, which Charlton Whittall, one of the managers of the Izmir Levant Company, built in 1857 as a gift to the Anglican community of the town, is still actively used. This church is located on Youth Street.

Homer Valley

Bornova Streamlet, between the center of Bornova and Kayadibi Village, has turned into a brand new place with the Homeros Valley Project, thanks to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. According to a mythological legend, the world-famous poet Homer had lived in acave within this valley in the 8th century BC. Ponds and weirs of 7 km long approximately, were built along the valley where fully landscaped recreationalareas.

Aşık Veysel Recreation Area

The AşıkVeysel Recreation Area, which is located on an area of 231 decares, includes an olympic skating and ice hockey hall with an area of 12 thousand square meters,a semi-olympic public swimming pool, an amphitheater for five thousand people, walking paths, basketball and volleyball courts, tennis courts, two cafes and resting areas. Levantine Mansions decorate the streets of Bornova.
